- Celebrating 100 years of women's voting rights in Norway 2013 -

"As 2013 is the 100th year anniversary of women's voting rights in Norway, we wanted to create an exhibition to mark the occasion of this historic event” says Mailind Solvind Mjøen, founder of The Biggest Minority In The World (TBMITW).

“We are doing this project in the name of solidarity and to bring to light the fundamental right to be heard. To be heard and seen where it matters is important, because that's where the power is.”

“We want to celebrate these 100 years, but also shine a light on the years before 1913 and  on those places where the voice is still not being heard."

The artists confirmed for the exhibition are:

Aurora Reinhard, Elin Wikström, Jannicke Låker, Kirsten Justesen, Kristina Lindberg, Mailind Solvind Mjøen, Ragnheidur Jónsdóttir and Eirún Sigurdardóttir, Jóní Jónsdóttir, Sigrún Hrólfsdóttir (The Icelandic Love Corporation).

They are all active female artists from all of the Nordic countries. Each artist will pick their own work(s) for the show, which opens 15th of november in Verkstedhallen Svartlamon in Trondheim, Norway.

The idea for this project is to create a room by and for women, a room that is strengthening democratic values and defies national borders and individual differences.

The artists involved will work in their own way with gender roles, themes around feminism and other forms for performativity. The project is a step towards equality and freedom of speech in a time where this right is still being questioned and voices silenced.

All the artists and organizations involved in TBMITW are working on a voluntary basis and it is a nonprofit organisation.

The aim is to create one exhibition in 2013, and in the years too come in all the other Nordic countries.
